Under Heaven - A Chinese Odyssey
Sculpture and Drawings by Michael Lyons
This was the title of the solo Exhibition mounted by the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester in the winter of 2003-04. It was a retrospective show focused on the works Lyons has created since establishing relationships with Chinese colleagues. He has found himself drawn back to the country repeatedly, not only as a teacher and working artist who realises major works there, but also, crucially, as a visitor who finds in the people, landscapes and culture the sources of inspiration that have underpinned the later, and highly fruitful, part of his career.
This Virtual Tour, made available by the Whitworth, allows a 360-degree view of the Gallery’s main space, making it possible to experience the general feel of the exhibition, and also to zoom-in on a particular work.
