Site artist, Steve Bunn attended the unveiling of SOFT LANDING, his sculptural drinking fountain in Meanwhile Gardens in North Kensington. The arrangement of morphed bottle forms in cast and painted aluminium uses the language of cartoons and computer graphics to make reference to the athletic twists, leaps and turns performed by the fountain's predominantly young users at the nearby skateboarding arena. By obliquely poking fun at the site's history of littering problems, the sculptural elements of the fountain also challenge those who drink from it to dispose of their litter more responsibly. |

Rupert Ackroyd’ s new sculpture in cast concrete, T Rex, was unveiled in the Napoleon Garden, Holland Park, where it will be on view for about a year. Based loosely on a popular food product (the turkey dinosaur) the sculpture questions the use we make of such symbols in our culture; what we think of as attractive presentation of food; the idea of what a monument is for; wholeness and brokenness… and more. |
