Caesura VI, 2000
Charles Hadcock
One basic 'tile' shape, very precisely angled and calculated, bolts together to form a skewed carapace big enough to shelter or hide inside. An organic-looking outer surface, reminiscent of elephant skin or bark, contrasts with the flanges and bolts of the much more mechanical interior. In theory, more 'tiles' could be added to extend this form, which, for all its bulk, meets the ground with an astonishing lightness. Its dimensions reflect the artist's own arm-span. |
